Cerequio & Cannubi, Michele Chiarlo Wine Club’s lot for September

Cerequio & Cannubi, Michele Chiarlo Wine Club’s lot for September

September, the time of great wines. With the harvest beginning under the best of auspices, Michele Chiarlo Wine Club’s offers are back.

Exclusively for members (discover how to receive the offer here) are two of the most iconic labels of the Calamandrana winery, two single vineyard from the crus that have made the Langhe famous all over the world: Cerequio and Cannubi.

Michele Chiarlo Wine Club’s new lot will consist of a bottle of Cerequio Barolo Docg and one of Cannubi Barolo Docg, both belonging to the 2016 harvest, a vintage that, although recent, has already gone down in history as one of the best of the last decade, defined as “magical” for the balance that it has been able to infuse into the Nebbiolo grapes, which have ripened regularly, very rich in color and aromas. An unrepeatable vintage.

Cerequio Barolo Docg 2016 – recently awarded by Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate with 96+/100 – comes from the homonymous Menzione Geografica Aggiuntiva (or cru) of La Morra. One of the most beautiful vineyards in the area, defined as the «Langhe Riviera» for the gentle slope and the elegant shapes of its hill. Here, nestled among the rows, rises Palás Cerequio, Michele Chiarlo’s wine relais entirely dedicated to Barolo and its most prestigious crus.

Cannubi Barolo Docg 2016, if there was any need for an introduction, comes from the Cannubi MGA, the most historic, famous and noble vineyard in Italy, a perfect synthesis of the many souls of Barolo because it is located right in the center of the denomination. Cannubi’s fame dates back to 1752, the year to which the first known bottle that bears this name on the label belongs. Since 1989, in Cannubi, Michele Chiarlo has cultivated a parcel of about 1 hectare, a steeply sloping vineyard which has been “terraced” with grassy edges under the guidance of the Swiss University of Changin, the first within a Langa cru: a very delicate and meticulous work, which guarantees the integrity of the soil and fights erosion in a completely natural way. Michele Chiarlo’s Cannubi.
