Wine Spectator: Michele Chiarlo is “Nizza specialist”

The April issue of Wine Spector honors Michele Chiarlo as “Nizza Specialist”.

The wine critic Bruce Sanderson thus describes the cellar of Calamandrana in the Buying Guide column dedicated to the Barbera vine of Piedmont:

Barbera now has its own small area, called Nizza, known for higher quality version. Nizza specialist Michele Chiarlo is a big advocate for the zone fielding three oustandign examples.

Michele Chiarlo’s Nizza Docg are then evaluated:

• 92 points for Cipressi Nizza Docg 2019 – chosen as Smart Buy
• 91 points for La Court Nizza Docg Riserva 2019
• 90 points to Montemareto Nizza Docg 2020
