A Barolo reflecting the denomination’s most refined side, born from the blue marls of the Tortonian soils – ancient seabeds raised millions of years ago, rich in minerals that give Nebbiolo grapes elegance and silky texture: this lot – dedicated exclusively to Wine Club members – features our Tortoniano Barolo DOCG Riserva 2019.
Produced only in exceptional vintages, our Tortoniano Barolo DOCG Riserva 2019 comes from carefully selected grapes from highly regarded vineyards, including a significant portion from Cerequio, one of Barolo’s most celebrated crus. After fermentation, the wine aged 30 months in large French oak barrels, refining its tannins without sacrificing structure, followed by extensive bottle aging.
The result is a Barolo that unfolds gracefully in the glass. Deep garnet in color, it offers aromas of sweet spices, tobacco, licorice, and subtle balsamic hints. Rich and broad on the palate, it features finely woven tannins, ending in a long, savory finish with a distinctive mineral edge that echoes its unique terroir.
After its debut at Wine Paris this past February, Tortoniano Barolo DOCG Riserva 2019 has already received outstanding reviews – 97 points from James Suckling and 96 points from Kerin O’Keefe.
Vintage Highlights
A generous winter of rain and snow provided crucial water reserves, followed by a rainy spring that balanced the growth cycle of the vines. A mild, dry summer and ideal September – with notable temperature variations – allowed Nebbiolo grapes to develop exceptional complexity and structure. Harvested from October 11-17, this super-classic vintage delivered modest yields and outstanding quality.
