Cipressi Nizza Docg 2018, here is our Wine Club’s new lot
The Michele Chiarlo Wine Club returns with an offer dedicated to one of the most iconic labels of the Calamandrana winery, Cipressi Nizza Docg, a hymn to the extraordinary expressive potential of the Barbera grape within its most suitable territory, the hills of the Nizza denomination.
The new lot will entirely be dedicated to Cipressi Nizza Docg 2018, a label made with 100% Barbera grapes grown in one of the most famous and spectacular vineyards of Monferrato, Tenuta La Court, the heart of the Nizza Docg appellation, in the municipality of Castelnuovo Calcea.
It is here that, since 1995, Michele Chiarlo has cultivated over 20 hectares of vineyards divided into two hills, on soils made up of clayey-calcareous marl, with good presence of silt and sand, rich in magnesium: perfect soils to enhance the natural acidity of the Barbera grapes in Nizza, endowed with a strong identity, fresh and pleasant yet capable of standing the test of time. And it is here that the Art Park La Court rises, the first Italian example of land art among the vineyards, where monumental works by Emanuele Luzzati, Ugo Nespolo, Giancarlo Ferraris and Chris Bangle harmonize and blend with the landscape.
Tenuta La CourtThe excellence of Cipressi Nizza Docg and its extreme versatility have been recognized by Wine Enthusiast magazine that, in 2018, placed Cipressi on top of the Enthusiast 100, the one hundred best wines chosen by the editorial staff from over 20 thousand labels from all over the world. A doubly important award for Chiarlo and for the entire Nizza appellation: Cipressi is in fact the first Barbera-based wine to have conquered the highest spot of the prestigious American ranking list.
