Barolo DOCG Cerequio and Barolo DOCG Cannubi 2021 – the value of the cru
At the core of our identity lies a clear choice: working by cru. Defined plots of vineyard, each with its own history, exposure, and soil – the foundations of a unique voice. This is where our idea of wine takes shape: a terroir-based approach where precision in the vineyard and sensitivity in the cellar bring out the truth of each place, harvest after harvest.
Today, we cultivate twelve crus between the Langhe and Monferrato – a number that speaks to our deep-rooted connection with these UNESCO-recognized hills. Among them, Cerequio and Cannubi represent the heart of Barolo: two iconic, complementary sites that combine grace and power, heritage and modern character – and give life to our Barolo DOCG Cerequio and Barolo DOCG Cannubi.
They are the focus of Lot 44 – a Wine Club–exclusive set featuring both 2021 vintages, along with two signed lithographs by artist Giancarlo Ferraris, inspired by the hills where these wines are born.
Barolo DOCG Cerequio 2021
One of Barolo’s most iconic vineyards, Cerequio is a sunlit amphitheatre in La Morra. Its Tortonian soils – rich in calcareous marl – bring balance, structure, and depth to Nebbiolo. The 2021 vintage followed an ideal growing season – a snowy winter, a cool spring, and a bright September with sharp diurnal shifts – all yielding pristine, expressive fruit.
In the glass, it opens with ripe red fruit, sweet spice, and a touch of balsamic. The palate is generous and finely woven, with polished tannins and a long, elegant finish.
This is a wine that confirms the stature of both the cru and its interpreter: after earning 5 Grappoli from Bibenda, Cerequio 2021 has now also been awarded Tre Bicchieri by Gambero Rosso – the twelfth time this cru has received the honour. Alongside top international accolades, this double recognition shines a spotlight on a vineyard we’ll celebrate again in 2026 – with the release of our 30th vintage from Cerequio.

Barolo DOCG Cannubi 2021
Cannubi is Italy’s oldest recognised cru – first mentioned in 1752 – and has long stood as a benchmark of harmony between finesse and depth. Our single hectare in the heart of the Barolo hill, fully terraced with grassed embankments under the supervision of the University of Changins, is a unique model of precision viticulture, where Tortonian and Helvetian soils meet and converse.
Barolo DOCG Cannubi 2021 showcases a vintage marked by clarity and finesse. Its bouquet unfolds with notes of rose, cherry, liquorice, sweet tobacco, and fine spice. The palate is poised and textured, with refined tannins and a clean mineral finish that lingers.
This is a wine that distills the essence of Cannubi – layered, deep, and composed – built to age gracefully.
