An Atlas of Piedmont

An Atlas of Piedmont

“You can only truly understand wine when you become familiar with the place where it was born – its upbringing, its world.”
– Mario Soldati

Soldati’s words are a constant companion – a simple and powerful reminder of what has always guided our work. Wine is never an isolated object – it lives through its landscape, through the grape varieties that define it, and through the culture that made them symbols. That’s why our idea of terroir is not just about what’s inside the bottle, but everything wine makes possible: walking a hilltop, getting to know a vineyard, experiencing a place.

We can’t bring you here ourselves – but we can begin to tell you the story through this Wine Club release: six wines, six appellations, six places that form a small atlas of southern Piedmont.

Our journey begins in the southeast, in Gavi, where Cortese finds one of its most brilliant expressions. Rovereto (Gavi DOCG del Comune di Gavi), with its reddish clay marl soils scattered with stones and gravel, and the highest elevation in the area, delivers a white that’s essential and vertical – a wine now back on the international stage. From there, we head west into Monferrato, where Nizza DOCG represents the modern face of Barbera: a region that has embraced its denomination and a production model built on low yields, precise viticulture, and ageing in large casks.

Moving into the Langhe, we encounter Langhe Nebbiolo – a pure, direct wine that opens the door to the layered complexity of Piedmont’s most iconic reds. At the heart of this landscape stands our Barolo Riserva from Tortonian soils: blue marl rich in micronutrients, slow ageing, silky tannins – the most refined expression of the Barolo yielding from these lands.

Heading north beyond the Tanaro River, the journey ends in Roero – land of marine sands and gentler hills – where Arneis has, in recent decades, found a modern voice: fresh, crisp, and precise.

And weaving through these landscapes, Moscato d’Asti adds its bright, vibrant sweetness – an aromatic, low-alcohol wine lifted by a delicate sparkle, now enjoying a new wave of popularity thanks to its stylistic and technical versatility.
