Michele Chiarlo in the Press

The first six months of the year brought a series of accolades that deserve to be lined up – a way to reflect the trajectory we’re on: steady, consistent, cru by cru. We’ve selected a few to share with pride.

On the international stage, critics continue to recognize both us – and Piedmont – through our labels. Bruce Sanderson, a leading voice at Wine Spectator, selected Cipressi 2021 – Nizza DOCG aged in large oak casks – among his “Smart Buys” from Piedmont: well-made, intelligent wines that convey their place of origin without compromise.

Our new Barolo DOCG Riserva Tortoniano 2019 made its debut with 97 points on JamesSuckling.com, where Aldo Fiordelli and Jacobo García Andrade described it as “A graceful wine […] elegant, mature, refreshing, and long”. Barbaresco DOCG Asili 2021 earned 95 points from Monica Larner of Robert Parker Wine Advocate, who praised its balance of power and poise. Meanwhile, Barolo DOCG Cerequio 2021 continues to be a sure thing: 96 points from Kerin O’Keefe (“impeccably balanced”) and 94 from Decanter.

Barbaresco DOCG Faset 2022 stood out for its “juicy, vibrant energy,” as noted by Georgina Hindle, who awarded it 94 points. Faset also appeared – alongside Barolo DOCG Cerequio – in Colin Hay’s Hors Bordeaux 2025 report published in The Drinks Business.

There was space, too, for Nivole – our Moscato d’Asti – which Filippo Bartolotta included in his “Expert’s Choice” selection for Decanter.

Strong results also came from the trade world: at the Sommelier Wine Awards, Michele Chiarlo was named European Producer of the Year, with all five submitted wines earning medals. Highlights included a gold for La Court Nizza Riserva 2021 and a rare double award – Critics’ Choice and By the Glass – for Gavi di Gavi Rovereto 2023, a white that held its own in a line-up dominated by reds.

Italian press coverage was just as enthusiastic. On L’Espresso, Luca Gardini devoted an article to Chiarlo and Barolo Cerequio 2021, awarding it 98 points. Tortoniano Riserva also appeared in ELLE among the standout wines of Vinitaly.

We’re equally proud of the recognition Palás Cerequio continues to receive – not just as a wine resort, but as a complete vision. Food & Wine named it one of the twelve best Italian wineries to visit near Milan, while Jeff Porter of Wine Enthusiast, in an interview for the fourth issue of CRU, described it as “a place where you feel at ease right away – and can enjoy wine the way it’s meant to be enjoyed.” His words capture the spirit of a project designed not just to welcome, but to give real depth to the wine experience.

Our collaboration with Ugo Nespolo, which brought to life the new Cannubi Path art installation, was featured in LondonArt Magazine, with an article exploring his creative vision and long-standing partnership with our family. The project was also covered by outlets such as Gentleman and Milano Finanza, which highlighted the deep connection between contemporary art, landscape, and wine.

Gratitude feels like the simplest – and truest – word to close on. Gratitude to those who taste with care, to those who write with insight, and to all who continue to bring value to our work – in the vineyard, in the cellar, with a glass or with a pen.
