Way
back, in 1982, we were the first to begin experiments on blending
Barbera grapes with other grapes that had complementary features.
The
experiments continued until, in 1995, we created the Montemareto
project on the extraordinary, homonymous hill in Castelnuovo Calcea,
with soil made up of white tuff and Asti sand and on a south-facing
hill that sloped an average 35°, where we decided to plant a high-density
vineyard (6000 rootstocks per hectare) made up of 40% Barbera,
30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Shiraz.
In
2000 we produced the first Montemareto Countacc, the results of
which, due to its extraordinary richness and persuasiveness on
the nose and to its generosity and sumptuous harmony on the palate,
we found so exciting.
The
characteristics of the cru: extraordinarily rich, persuasive
bouquet with marked notes of ripe blackberries, blueberries and
raspberries , on the palate it is sumptuous and highly elegant.
Colour: highly intense and deep purple-red.
