Barolo Chinato

Barolo Chinato was invented at the end of the 1800s by a pharmacist from Serralunga d’Alba who intended to produce a restorative. His starting point was Barolo wine, to which he added an infusion of China Calissaja bark and other spices, well as a measured amount of sugar and alcohol.

We wanted to freshen up an old recipe, enhancing it with the addition of precious Alpine herbs, including China Calissaja: following a long period of experimentation, we obtained this elixir, a delicious digestif and the only one of its kind in all the world.
